Social Media Tips – Hashtags for Everyday of the Week

Hashtags for everyday of the week

Let’s hash out the week—hashtag that is!

Being active and staying abreast of the latest trends in social media is very important.  Hashtags help you share and grow your business brand awareness.  You can use them to leverage your engagement in a fun and/or sincere way without pushing sales. It is a huge marketing tool that you can use to capitalize on! These weekly hashtags not only keep your company relevant on the latest trends, they also help you save time by posting in advance.

Here are some tips to follow when using hashtags:

1. Make sure the hashtags you are using are relevant to your company. Just using any random weekday hashtag doesn’t work for every company. Make sure what your are posting ties into your company campaigns, products, services or culture.

2. Broken Hash Tags can defeat your point. Make sure it is one word with no spaces. If you put any space in between the hashtag will end where you put the space. Only the first word will be pick upped.

Example:

Hashtag with a space in between words
Hashtag with a space in between words

3. Put capitalization between words so people can understand the message you are trying to convey at a glance. A hash with 2-3 words or a lot of characters is hard to read at a glance. Most people are scrolling through feed. Make sure what your writing can be read easily.

Example:

#waybackwednesday     vs    #WayBackWednesday

Obviously the hash with capitalization is easier to differentiate the individual words.

4. Too many hashtags will get you lower engagement. Remember to only use 1 or 2. Going to 3 to 4 will significantly lower engagement. Buddy Media’s research showed when you use more than two hashtags, your engagement actually drops by an average of 17 percent.

Example: Let’s say you’re a with health and nutrition company and here is your post.

SundaySelfie

Getting Monday Started right! #MotivationMonday #MondaySelfie
#Mondays #MondayMorning  #FitnessMonday #MondayFunday

This feels a bit cluttered and overwhelming.

Try this:

SundaySelfie

Getting Monday started right! #MotivationMonday #FitnessMonday

It’s easy to read and gets your message across at a glance. If they didn’t get what you were taking about by your image, written content and first few hashtags you might want to rethink your post.

5. You probably shouldn’t use a weekday hashtag everyday. 3-5 times a week is good. You don’t want your social media based on a day of the week.

6. You should always check to make sure what your hashtags meaning is. Some don’t always mean what you think. Double checking is always a good ideas to make sure you are correctly stating the message you want.

I have listed some hashtags for every day of the week and created an inforgraph cheat sheet below.
